56th Anniversary of Woodstock!
A pivotal moment in music history is the Woodstock Music & Art Festival, held in August of 1969. The festival took place over a three day period on Max Yasgur’s dairy farm in Bethel, NY. Today, August 15th, marks its 56th anniversary.
Despite unanticipated conditions, Woodstock became a symbol of the counterculture movement, embodying the spirit of peace, love, and musical expression. The festival's lineup featured some of the most prominent and influential musicians of the era, who delivered unforgettable performances that resonated with the massive crowd.
Among these performers was Arlo. He played his own songs “Coming Into Los Angeles”, “Wheel of Fortune”, and “Every Hand in the Land”; as well as covers of Bob Dylan’s “Walking Down the Line”, Fisk Jubilee Singers “Oh Mary, Don’t You Weep”, and John Newton’s “Amazing Grace”.
In recognition of this momentous occasion, we picked Arlo Guthrie’s “Wheel of Fortune” as our song of the week!
